--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Delivery , Good .
Well packed.
Value for money Good.
The manual covers all things mechanical in depth, however there are short falls , it does not cover basic things like steering wheel removal , replacement of such items as combination switch clock springs etc. dash bulb failures etc
The ignition module , MB tools are shown and yet I was unable to purchase these from MB when I tried earlier, also the procedure is not complete in that it does not indicate that the securing bolts can be used as extractors when re-positioned .
If you are considering removing you engine great, it will help, if you want to remove a door panel no information and judging from the forums that is what you are more likely wanting to do. Things like electric widow motors, door locks are not covered
If you have no reference at present then I will help, with wheel hubs, drive shafts, etc However when we get to calipers it says to replace rather than overhaul!
The cost of doing this would be high. It is also far more complicated to change a caliper than overhaul, as the brakes have to be blead.
Does not in my opinion come up to Haynes manual standards but with other sources of information Like rickbenz service disc & baby-benz .com forums is still worth having on the shelf.
This is just my own view you may not agree so why not buy a copy from Steve and make your own views known.

How good is it for detailed pictures and fitting instuctions etc?.
For those of us who have not yet purchased one of these manuals. Can you please tell us in your own opinion. If it is worth a basic DIY'er getting a copy for themselves.
Some people are afraid to do even the slightest thing to their car. As their knowledge of how to do even tackle simple repairs such as changing the pollen filter seems too hard a task to tackle by themselves.
But if the manual is good enough to give these types of people the confidence to at least try. That can't be too bad?.
Maybe after a few comments about the manuals short comings from you. A better and much more detailed edition will shortly follow.

Tony for all thing mechanical on the car its OK. I have had problems loading the details and lost my more detailed review. Now I see I have two versions the more detailed copy still lost my end.
loads of small diagrams which would help a DIY but I feel its gone too deep in some areas and not covered the basics in others for instance there are pics of the big end shells but not of the air filter,(That I can see)although it talks about it
for £17 + pounds you can't go far wrong, useful to have as a reference. _________________ Members are more than welcome to visit my site on the 'A' Class A160 2002 W168 loads of info added over recent months a lot of which is common to other 'A' Class models, now with FAQ page3 My site CD now also availabe . |
