Does someone have a workshop manual for my 1999 A170 CDI 90hp ?
I tried to look for it every where with no succees.
Maybe this does not exist in hard copy but....
I did the last service 120000km and in Italy, but not in a MB service center, i paid 600€ !!!
OK full service, brake discs and pads and rear pads. Plus some minor things that mechnics are heppy to include.
As i did every service to my motorbike i'd like to do the same to my car but i have not idea on how to remove pads, discs, where is located the oil filter and how much oil is do i have to put in the engine.
It seems that car are more complicated than bikes !
Thanks

Attilio, Yes the car is far more complicated than bikes! If you go to my web site http://www.aclassinfo.co.uk you will find masses of information that relates to your just as it does mine, if you want a paper copy for reference you can always print the page.
No there are no hard copy manuals there is one called peter russets pocket manual but it of no use for the DIY ers
It covers things like how to remove the drive shafts and engine but does not cover the basics like brakes and mentions nothing about the electrics windows etc .

You should find all the information you want for servicing your car on my site
And the diesel air filter is of course different as is the fuel filter but if you go to this address and ask them for a password you can then type your questions and get answers from diesel version owners
Hope that helps.

svcglobal@svcglobal.com (svcglobal@svcglobal.com) e-mail that address for your password , don’t forget you must decide on your user name. that you would like to use on the forum

The site is:-

Remember you cannot get into the site until you have your password which they will mail to you within 12 hours.

Thanks a lot Lofty.
this site is very detailed and interesting. I will use it for sure in the future.
Another question: the rear white light that swithches on while going back with the car (rear gear on) is not working well. If i push the gear lever the light switches on if not it is off and become on after a while (but you need this immediate if you are parking in a supermarket. Is there some istruction on how to repair this ? I think this is just to clean something or adjust something in the bottom of the gear lever but...i do not like to much electronics and i do not want to visit a MB dealer for this minor problem.
Sorry if my English is not very clear.
Thanks
Ciao

Don’t worry about your English it’s fine (Good) it sounds as though your switch is just sticky, locate the switch my pages bottom of page 11 and details page 59 I feel sure that id you disconnect the electrical connection and clean the terminals it may well be all right and work OK I don’t think there is any thing you can adjust.
One point of warning if at some stage you are tempted to replace the reversing switch you MUST put the car in reverse gear and leave it located the whole time the switch is being removed and re-fitted if you don’t do this you will have serious problems.
The new switch is quite cheap to buy but difficult to fit as you have to find a spanner that you can get onto the switch body.
Remember if you have a question ask I will always try to answer you .
