Mercedes-Benz Vaneo: also a huge hit in taxi guise

  • Taxi package available immediately for € 951.20

  • Taxi version can be combined with all three lines

  • Positive response from field tests

The taxi version of the Mercedes-Benz Vaneo is ready to go into service immediately. DaimlerChrysler now provides a complete taxi package for its multifunctional compact van. The package can be combined with all three of the Mercedes-Benz Vaneo lines: "Trend", "Family" and "Ambiente". It comprises light ivory paintwork (RAL 1015), prewired fittings for installing an electronic taximeter and a state-of-the-art two-way radio as well as prewiring for adding a two-way radio speaker, the taxi roof sign connection, the road speed signal for the taximeter and the complete taxi emergency alarm system. The total package costs € 951.20.

Vaneo taxi

A choice of two thrifty diesel engines – delivering 55 kW/75 hp or 67 kW/91 hp – makes the economical and efficient Vaneo an attractive proposition in this particular commercial segment.

Mercedes-Benz quickly arranged for the taxi version of the Vaneo to be put through its daily paces: field tests have been running in the Berlin and Stuttgart areas since mid-December.

Drivers are particularly impressed by the large boot which holds 715 litres when five seats are in use. Further aspects that have met with a positive response include the excellent winter traction provided by the front-wheel drive, easy handling in the city, problem-free access in the tightest of parking bays and substantial passenger headroom. The testers have also been quick to praise the excellent all-round view from inside the Mercedes-Benz Vaneo, the pull-out loading floor (option), the comfortably high seating position and the host of stowage options, not to mention the excellent ride characteristics.

DaimlerChrysler aims to sell around 1,000 of these taxi versions per year.
