Stuttgart – The perfect combination of Mercedes
design and fashion is exemplified by the new key visual for the Mercedes-Benz
Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2009, held for the third time on 17-20 July
2008. Dressed in clothing by well known designers, top model Eva Padberg meets
the new and impressive Mercedes-Benz GLK.
This emotional and sensually enticing key visual will
really draw attention to advertisements, posters and vehicles at the third
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. It also heightens the anticipation of
directly meeting the latest member of the Mercedes-Benz SUV family. Following an
excursion into the world of cinema at the side of Kim Cattrall alias Samatha
Jones in the film “Sex and the City,” the Mercedes-Benz GLKwill be “personally”
presented for the first time to a wider audience at the international fashion
event. “With its striking design, the GLK presents a new entry opportunity into
the SUV world of Mercedes-Benz,” says Dr. Olaf Göttgens, Vice President Brand
Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “Together with our fashion brand ambassador
Eva Padberg, we’ve created an extremely powerful key visual for the
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin that will allow us to appeal to young,
progressive and, above all, female target groups.”
The encounter between the top model and the new GLK was
staged by Daniel Roché, one of the most promising young fashion photographers in
Germany. Using his extraordinary eye for the connection between cars and fashion
design, he has produced an exciting combination of glamour and drama with a
touch of eroticism. “The key visual has for me a mystical and elegant allure and
I think it’s going to turn a lot heads,” says Eva Padberg. “I was deeply
impressed with the new GLK. When I first saw it in the studio, I was absolutely
delighted. It’s just the right car for me.” At the shooting in Gaukler Studios
in Filderstadt, Germany, she stood under the spotlights together with a dark
grey (tenoritgrau) GLK 350.
GLK sets new standards in the world of compact
SUVs
With its extraordinary design, which combines the
time-honoured angular shape of an offroader with the typical design features of
a Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle, the GLK has strong character traits that will
allow it to set new standards in the world of compact SUVs. This remarkable
multi-talented car does more than just stand out from the competition with its
functional yet equally attractive bold body lines. It also brings together
highly diverse characteristics that can now be adapted to meet a wide range of
driving situations. Thanks to the Agility Control suspension, outstanding
handling and exceptional safety have merged with extraordinary driving
comfort.
The modern, variable 4MATIC four-wheel drive system and the
electronic regulating system work together to combine perfect onroad performance
with well-balanced offroad capability. It is precisely this combination that
makes the GLK so attractive.
