The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class, which celebrates its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show at the beginning of March 2005, will cost between 21,808 € and 27,956 € ex factory. There is a choice of two diesel and four petrol models with outputs ranging from 70 kW/95 hp to 142 kW/193 hp. The unique Sports Tourer concept is entering series production for the first time with the B-Class - a Mercedes-Benz in new dimensions.

The extensive standard equipment of the B-Class includes air conditioning, a multifunction steering wheel with control buttons, power windows (front) and projection-beam headlamps. Technical safety innovations also provided as standard include head/thorax sidebags (front), tyre pressure loss warning, STEER CONTROL, the newly developed assisted steering system, and ESP®. The B 200 TURBO and the diesel models B 180 CDI and B 200 CDI are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission as standard. The continuously variable automatic transmission AUTOTRONIC is available as optional equipment for all models (1,705.20 €*).

Mercedes-Benz also offers valuable extras in equipment packages. The exterior chrome package costs 295.80 € ex factory – this is standard equipment in the B 200 CDI and B 200 TURBO. Depending on the model, the sports package costs between 684.40 and 1,496.40 € ex factory. It includes 17-inch light-alloy wheels, a sports suspension and a leather-covered steering wheel and shift lever, plus other details which accentuate the dynamic appearance of the Compact Sports Tourer.

High-tech systems from the top Mercedes models are also available for the new B-Class. These include bi-xenon headlamps with the Active Light System and cornering light function (1,345.60 €*), THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control (574.20 €*), the Audio 50 APS radio/navigation system (2,030 €*), a surround-sound system (765.50 €*) and windowbags (261 €*). Other special features available for the new B-Class are the large panoramic glass roof (638 €*) and the louvred panoramic sliding sunroof (1,090.40 €*).

The innovative Sports Tourer concept developed by Mercedes-Benz is entering series production for the first time with the new B-Class. It utilises the advantages of a number of different vehicle concepts and blends them together into an interesting and distinctive package. As a Compact Sports Tourer, the B-Class excels by combining a very spacious interior, exemplary comfort, practicality, an exciting design and a high level of driving pleasure.
