Above is the diagram for the A-class. This covers the petrol versions, and at the moment it does not specify the diesel wiring so I can't guarantee its the same, although it should be...
The diagram shows that there is a feed you can use from the back of the stereo at pin 1 of the ISO connector (green/black) however the documentation that comes with this diagram states that not all vehicles are equipped with this wire (doesn't state which models), if it is not fitted then a can-bus decoder is required. The feed for which is taken from the ECU or Instrument Panel (as shown on the block diagram above).
