Model range: Individuality, dynamism, exclusivity, innovations and exemplary quality and safety

  • Automobiles for almost any purpose and lifestyle

  • The widest product range in the premium sector with 122 model variants

  • Electronic Stability Program standard for all car models

  • Engines from 44 kW/60 hp to 290 kW/394 hp

Individuality through variation – it is according to this principle that the current Mercedes-Benz car range was planned ten years ago. With eleven model series and the record number of 109 model variants world-wide, the premium brand within the DaimlerChrysler group satisfies the wishes of comfort and quality-conscious customers who wish to express an exclusive lifestyle with their automobile and therefore make unusual demands on automobiles in general.

Whether as a stylish compact saloon, a four-door saloon with the highest level of comfort, a practical estate with a high utility and recreational value, a sporty roadster with a dynamic power unit, an elegantly designed coupé, a four-seater convertible, a robust off-road vehicle with four-wheel drive or a spacious MPV -- all the models have those typical values and characteristics in common which have always been the hallmarks of the Mercedes-Benz brand image: an aura of confidence, top quality and reliability, innovative technology and exemplary safety. The safety concept of the Stuttgart auto marque includes the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®), which Mercedes-Benz installs in all its cars as standard. The greatest possible protection is available to persons who are particularly at risk with the special protection cars from the "GUARD" range.

mobilo-life: Guaranteed mobility and value retention for life

Mercedes-Benz provides a mobility and value retention guarantee for all its new cars in 23 European countries. Up to the fourth year of registration the corrosion warranty and the mobility guarantee mobilo-life are valid with no restrictions. After this a long-term warranty for up to 30 years applies if the car is regularly serviced by an authorised Mercedes workshop. In the event of a warranty claim the last vehicle service must have been carried out no longer than two years previously.

The services under mobilo-life include free repair of rust perforation (from inside) to the bodywork or underfloor by an authorised Mercedes-Benz workshop for a period of up to 30 years. In addition the mobility of the car's owner is assured in the event of corrosion perforation, even while repairs are under way. The range of mobilo-life services is also extensive in the event of technical breakdowns or other problems. In such cases Mercedes customers are entitled to a wide range of free warranty services (for a maximum of 30 years) over the entire operating life of the vehicle if they have regularly taken it to an authorised Mercedes-Benz workshop for a check-up from the fifth year of registration. In the first four years after first registration of a Mercedes-Benz car, mobilo-life will also assist drivers in the event of minor incidents leading to a breakdown, e.g. loss of the ignition key, battery failure, oil or coolant loss, tyre damage or incorrect fuel when refuelling.

A-class: Trend-setter among the compacts

  • Market launch: October 1997

  • Top model A 190 with 92 kW/125 hp

  • ELEGANCE and AVANTGARDE with even more extras as standard

The A-class offers numerous technical innovations in its market segment, for example the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) and Brake Assist. The top-of-the-range model is the A 190, which combines fun with dynamism, a moderate fuel consumption and a favourable insurance category. Significant enhancements have been made to the design and equipment lines ELEGANCE and AVANTGARDE, including leather panels in the cockpit. A unique feature continues to be the sandwich concept, where the engine, transmission and axles are accommodated partly in front of and partly beneath the passenger compartment. As a result the A-class has the same safety level as larger Mercedes-Benz saloons.
